Blackall is located in the 'Queensland Outback' approximately 950 kilometres north west of Brisbane. Blackall is a small rural community with a population of about 1600. We have a rich history and a growing tourism industry. The town is located on the banks of the Barcoo River; always a popular fishing spot.

Blackall's Acacia Motor Inn has 25 spacious 4 star rooms within walking distance to historic Blackall. Our bistro is a popular licensed restaurant seating 80 to 100 people - birthdays, weddings and other functions catered for by prior arrangement.

Blackall has a rich history; first settled in 1864 and named after Samuel Wensley Blackall, then-governor of Queensland. Signs at the entrance of the town declare 'Welcome to Blackall - you are in Merino Country. Blackall - the biggest cattle selling centre in the Central West.' Despite these grand claims, Blackall is a small rural village with a population of 2200.
