Karumba Point is situated on the mouth of the Norman River and is the centre of the Gulf of Carpentaria's prawning industry. Karumba Point, near the entrance to the town of Karumba has a magnificent view out over the Gulf with mangroves in the foreground and the Gulf waters disappearing to the horizon.

End of the Road Motel is an ideal base from which to explore the vast coastline of the Gulf as well as the surrounding wetlands which extend inland for approximately 30 kilometres. This county is the natural habitat of saltwater crocodiles and a vast array of bird species, such as brolgas, black swans, cyrus cranes and pelicans.

Karumba is renowned for its fabulous boating and fishing adventures, its coastal wilderness and its magnificent sunsets. Karumba offers boat hire for fishing and sightseeing, cruises on the Norman River and flights across to Sweers and Mornington Islands. The thrill of landing a Barramundi is an experience that is always remembered. Other major target species include Grunter, King Salmon, Blue Salmon, Saratoga, Bream, Spanish Mackeral, Black Jewfish, Jewel Fish, Mud Crab, Sooty Grunter, Red Claw Crayfish and giant Freshwater Prawn.

Karumba Point is easily accessible by road. Sealed roads ensure that driving to The End of the Road Motel is a memorable and comfortable experience, whether you are travelling by four wheel drive or the family car. The Savannah Way traverses the heart of the Gulf of Carpenteria, linking Karumba with Cairns, Darwin and further on to Broome in Western Australia. The Matilda Way runs north from central Queensland, ending at the water's edge at Karumba Point.
