The Augusta Courtyard Motel is an ideal base from which is explore the diversity offered by the unique outback town of Port Augusta. Just a few kilometres north of Port Augusta along the Stuart Highway, the town gives way to flat mauve hued scrubby landscape which stretches as far as the eye can see. To the west lies the beautifully contoured slopes of the Flinders Ranges where one finds huge plateaus rising majestically out of the vast plains and closer to the road dry salt lakes stretch across the expanse of wilderness.

Places of interest include the Homestead Park Pioneer Museum and the Wadlata Outback Centre which provide information about the history of the area and the opening up the outback. Experience the Pichi Richi Railway which runs a restored steam operated train on a regular basis between Port Augusta and Quorn in the north. The Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden located two kms out of town on the edge of the desert offers excellent views across the Flinders Ranges and provides insight into the rich diversity of flora in the Australian desert.

Port Augusta is located 322 kms north of Adelaide via the Princes Hwy and is a genuine crossroads with the Stuart Hwy heading north to Alice Springs and Darwin and the Eyre Hwy heading west to the Eyre Peninsula and the Nullarbor Plain.
