Gateway Motor Inn is a 1 hour drive from the Clare Valley Wineries and 1 1/2 hours from Adelaide. We are only 10 minutes from the stunning scenic and family friendly beaches, in Moonta Bay, Port Hughes and Wallaroo, each is suitable for beach swimming and fishing.

Kadina is the largest town on the Yorke Peninsula and the main commercial centre for a very prosperous agricultural region. Copper mining was once the main industry for this town, hence the region being called the "Copper Coast". If you intened to explore the northern end of the Yorke Peninsula and its rich history; you'll find Kadina is a great base.

Copper was first found in 1859 at Wallaroo Mines near Kadina. The population in this area quickly grew and the town of Kadina was surveyed in 1861. The Farm Shed Museum and Tourism Centre, Kadina, just 2 min's drive away, contains Interpretive displays in this National Trust museum regarding the areas history.

The world's largest Cornish festival - Kernewek Lowender, is held in May on odd numbered years. Extremely popular with over 80,000 people attending, Kernewek Lowender offers food, music, dancing, an old car procession and lots of Cornish tradition. Other events include: The Kadina Annual Show, a country show and Yorke Peninsula Field Days - Australia's oldest field days established in 1894, held biennially on odd numbered years at Paskeville.

Kadina is the largest town on the Yorke Peninsula, with a population of around 4,000. It is located 1.5 hours from Adelaide CBD, along the south coast road towards the Yorke Penninsula.
