We are situated in wheat country town, 253 km north of Adelaide in the mid north of South Australia. Peterborough is a railway town and it is one of only two places in Australia where three railway gauges meet, at the intersection of an east-west railway linking Port Pirie and Broken Hill, and a north-south railway linking Adelaide (then eventually to Alice Springs via Quorn).

Peterborough is at the gateway to the spectacular Flinders Ranges and South Australian Outback. While in Peterborough check out the only working Gold Battery, play a round of golf or visit the historic museums. Ley's Museum showcases all sorts of memorabilia while Rann's Museum and Steam Town offers industrial and railway history. Steam Town, founded in 1977, displays steam engines and carriages and runs a steam train service between Peterborough and Quorn, at the edge of the Flinders Ranges, providing visitors with the experience of an old-style railway journey.

For something just a little bit different from anything else, drive north of town Orroroo and it's famous Magnetic Hill, park your car on the side of the hill and watch it roll uphill!
